WWRO CODE OF ETHICS

Reiki

Reiki is commonly referred to as Universal Life Force / Universal Life Energy or similar. In essence the Reiki practitioner is a purely a channel/conduit for the energy frequencies which are known as Reiki.

Reiki is a gentle approach to restoring balance, harmony and well being within the humans system. An ancient healing technique utilizing the Universal Life Energy "Ki". This natural healing energy flows through the "Reiki" practitioner to the client giving both restored energy and well being.

During Healing sessions clients are always fully clothed and they usually either lie on a massage table or sit on a chair (which ever is the most comfortable). The Reiki practitioner would then place their hands gently either on or just above the client at various places on the clients body.

Reiki aims to complement and enhance any other therapies the client may including medical treatment.

All the members of the WWRO (World Wide Reiki Organisation) agree to abide by the common ”Code of Ethics”.

The following “Code of Ethics” (Code) is intended to serve Reiki practitioners and - in conjunction with the WWRO vision - it is a pre-requisite that all new members sign (or confirm that they have read online) the “Code of Ethics”. This is to ensure integrity of the Reiki teachings and a high standard of practice .

Summary of the Code of Ethics

  • To identify the fundamental commitments of whats required in setting up a Reiki practice.
  • To ensure there is integrity and discipline during any Reiki healing session.
  • To provide practitioners with a framework for ethical practice.
  • To provide guidelines for the protection and well being of clients .
  • To adhere to the Code of Ethics. The end result is to provide clients with the highest standard of healing, which is always "in addition to" and never "instead of " professional medical care.

Code of Ethics: The Reiki Practitioner agrees to the following: -

  • You should always explain to clients that Reiki practitioners are not Doctors or part of a licensed health care provider. Reiki can be used as a complementary therapy in conjunction with what ever medical care the client is already receiving.
  • You may not diagnose, prescribe for, claim to cure, nor treat , any specific illness and n ever suggest they change any of their prescribed treatments nor interfere with treatment of a licensed health care provider.
  • Explain to the client that Reiki offers relaxation and physical and spiritual comfort. These may bring some relief to the client.
  • If the client has come to you with a specific ailment or condition, then ensure they have already been seen by a qualified GP or professional care professional. If not, then refer them to a medical practitioner before giving any healing treatment.
  • Never guarantee the results of any healing
  • Be in a fit and sober state.
  • Never discriminate against anyone based on creed, colour, sex, age, religion or political belief.
  • Ensure you explain what will occur during a typical Reiki session to the client and the expected duration of the session.
  • Respect the dignity and worth of your clients - all individuals come to that .
  • Respect the confidentiality of any of the clients information that is discussed within the context of a Reiki session.
  • You should maintain appropriate business and client records and keep them up to date.
  • Any client data should not be disclosed to any third party unless required to do so by law, all clients records should be held for the minimum period required by your countries laws, this may also include the registration of these personal details you are holding.
  • Conduct yourself professionally and responsibly
  • To maintain a safe and comfortable environment for yourself and your clients.
  • In treating any sensitive areas (e.g. the “genitals” or “breasts”) it is very important that “permission” is obtained from the client prior to the session .
Also, to ensure the clients privacy, treatment of sensitive areas must be conducted with the Practitioners hands above and not touching the body. It may be more appropriate to actually perform distant healing for these private/sensitive areas.
  • Regularly perform Self Healing to ensure you are in a fit state to heal others
  • Display your Reiki Certificate in full public view for the clients to see.
  • To observe and Integrate the Reiki Principles into all aspects of your life
Just for today do not worry
Just for today do not anger
Honour your parents, teachers and elders
    Earn your living honestly
Show gratitude to every living thing
  • You must check and comply with any local, county or National by-laws in regard to any Health and Safety legislations.
  • Ensure the client knows that membership of the WWRO is not an accreditation in any way.
  • All persons employed or associated with yourself as regards the practice of Reiki must be made aware of the above codes and ethics.
  • To support the WWRO and its members in the upholding of the above Code of Ethics.
